Why is Bobby Ray famous?
Boasting a set of pearly whites that would rival those of Grant Horvat’s and a pair of biceps that would make Micah Morris proud, Bobby Ray is a top-10 player on the World Long Drive Tour, but the golf course isn’t where he first made name for himself – in fact far from it.
Bobby’s initial brush with fame came back in 2019, when he appeared on Paradise Hotel on Fox – a reality dating show. Bobby would go on to win this season, after which the show got the boot and hasn’t reappeared on our screens since. Interesting fact: after winning, he and his fellow victor, Tatum, had the chance to win a bunch of money to share, or run off with it all themselves. Bobby opted for the latter, taking home $200,000 and leaving poor old Tatum empty-handed!
Since then, however, Bobby has steadily set about using his powers for good. Having turned his attention to golf, one of his many exploits these days is using the game and his platform to raise money for charity, which he’s done to the tune of over $500,000. Tatum might not agree, but it sounds to me as though he’s more than made up for any past sins.
But while his presence in the world of golf is increasing by the day, Bobby has also recently rekindled his on-screen career, appearing (albeit briefly) on Will Ferrell’s golf comedy The Hawk. And Ferrell must have liked him enough, because he’s also set to appear on Judgment Day, an upcoming film also featuring the comedy veteran.

What can we expect from Bobby Ray at the Internet Invitational?
Plenty of big hits, for starters. According to his website, Bobby Ray has a ball speed of 228.3 mph – i.e. very fast – so expect him to swing hard – assuming he doesn’t follow Kyle Berkshire’s lead and opt to play sensible, irons-off-the-tee golf the whole event.
I asked Bobby what his handicap was because unlike most online golfers these days, it isn’t publicly available. He told me he doesn’t really keep one so doesn’t have much of a clue – explains why it isn’t available anywhere – but that he’s probably around a 3 or a 4. Solid enough.
There will be a number of better golfers than him whacking their way around Big Cedar Lodge, but if 3-4 is an accurate handicap he should still be getting picked in the top half of the field – particularly given how useful big hitting can be in ambrose match-ups.
