Your Golf Tour MVP Votes - Rams Hill

The second Your Golf Tour is done and dusted, and we all felt a bit of déjà vu watching Rams Hill as the same two teams cruised through the first couple of rounds to advance to Round 3. This time around, Team Wes got the chocolates courtesy of a few dominant displays in the final round match play event, but it was once again the same players across those two teams who did the most damage – and in fact, the exact same five players shot the lowest collective scores and found themselves in the votes as at Pursell Farms. Take a look at all the vote-getters and the MVP table below.

5 votes – Wesley Bryan

After picking up the four votes at Pursell Farms, Wesley Bryan once again showed what he is capable of with a brilliant performance to lead his team to victory at Rams Hill. He’d have wanted to, as well – Wes infamously missed a short putt after electing to tap on the 17th at Pursell Farms in the final event, an act which even managed to make Ryan Ruffels mad and potentially cost his team victory. No such issues this time around. Wesley went around his first nine alongside Micah Morris in -4 before he and his protégé Evans Lewis put up -7 in the second to secure their spot in the final, and once there he took the bull by the horns in a clash of the titans up against Brad Dalke. We all know how good Dalke is, and while he wasn’t at his best here, Wesley took him to the cleaners with an electric -7 in just 14 holes to win 5&4. Wes didn’t have the lowest total score at Rams Hill, but he wasn’t far off and with that final round performance, deserves the 5 votes.

4 votes – Sean Walsh

A case could very easily be made that Sean Walsh was the best player at Rams Hill, and had his team not lost – which was no fault of his own – he may have been worthy of all 5. Steady Sean pulled Garrett along to a -5 in the first round, and followed that up with -8 in the shamble second. In the final round he was even better. Up against a massively improved Micah Morris, Sean found himself 2 down and at even par through six holes. He went -8 through the next 9 to win 3&2. There are arms and elbows all over the place in his swing, but when Sean Walsh is on, this guy does not miss. His -21 total was the lowest for the event.

3 votes – Ryan Ruffels

It was hard to actually pay attention to his golf underneath all the sniffling he did, but Ruffels was once again extremely steady en route to an -11 total across his three rounds at Rams Hill. Testament to his ability, this was far from Ruff at his best, particularly in the final round against Garrett, but he still did what he needed to do in the first matchup of the round to get his team an early lead, winning on the 16th hole with a -3 total. At -11 over the course of the event, he was actually only the 5th lowest score of the bunch, but given he won his Round 3 match and there was little separating the scores of he and the next couple of guys, he gets the 3 votes.

2 votes – Micah Morris

It’s probably no surprise given he has professed his love for self-improvement, but man has this guy improved. Micah went at pick #8 of 12 in the YGT Draft, but through the first two events he has proved that he was underestimated by the captains. Micah went -4, -5 and -4 across the three rounds at Rams Hill, and though he ultimately couldn’t match Sean Walsh in the final round he gave him a good scare. He came out of the blocks firing and was leading by 2 holes at -5 through 7, but when Walsh turned it on Micah went the other way and ended up at -4 when the match ended after 16 holes. Still, another very good performance by Micah Morris, who is sharing the MVP leaderboard with some of the most credentialed names in YouTube golf.

1 vote – Brad Dalke

It was all in front of Dalke heading into Round 3 – fresh off a -8 in Round 2, best afield at the first event, a chance to lead Team Brad to a second win in as many tournaments to start off YGT. Unfortunately, he faltered under the bright lights and proved no match for fellow captain Wesley Bryan. Brad’s round wasn’t a disaster – he was still sitting at around -2 through 14 (depending whether you’re generous enough to give him his final putt after Wes sunk one to win the match), but he was a long way behind the eight ball from the outset of that match. He’s still been among the standouts, as expected, on the tour so far, but that final round at Rams Hill was costly.

So two events in, we’ve doled out 30 votes and they’ve all gone to the same five guys, but a look at the overall scores from the two events makes it pretty clear why. These five all belong to the dominant two teams and have clearly been the best players on those teams, with Wesley and Sean in particular having led the way. With two events remaining it will take something unbelievable for anyone other than these five to end up victorious in the inaugural YTGT YGT MVP (happy to take suggestions for a better name).
