This Week in YouTube Golf

There’s been plenty of action in the world of YouTube Golf over the past week, including a host of new videos, talk of future collaborations, and most significantly, a huge announcement by Grant Horvat and the Bryan Bros about a new YouTube Golf Tour that they will be running. Incidentally, that was the second major announcement by Horvat this week after, in a major departure from his channel’s typical postings, he told us that he has officially, drum roll please, bought a boat! What a week for the happiest man on YouTube.

This Week’s Videos

Plenty of new videos have dropped across the major YTG channels over the past week; check out a brief rundown of them all below.

Grant HorvatI Got My Dream Boat

Where else could we start but here? YTG has officially diversified, with people (us) so invested in the creators we know and love that Grant Horvat is now posting 20-minute videos about buying a boat, and many hundreds of thousands of people are watching. And we’re all for it – you go Grant! You buy that boat big guy.

Bryan BrosI Can’t Believe They Let Us Play Here

In a much more regular YouTube Golf video, the Bryan Bros headed to Sage Valley, many times rated in the top 100 courses in the world. Nothing much was on the line – they just played the course – but it’s a damn nice course and the visuals were extremely good.

Rick ShielsShe’s one of the BEST golfers I’ve played (+5 handicap)

Our old pal Rick took on South African Bobbi Brown, who turned pro just a few weeks ago, in Johannesburg. Nice course, solid golf, worth a watch.

Peter Finch/Bryan Bros – Peter Finch vs Wes Bryan vs George Bryan (18 Hole Match)

Haven’t the Bryan Bros got themselves around this week? Peter Finch and the brothers haven’t collaborated for a year or so, but they’re a fun little trio. They headed to Solina, Wesley and George’s course, for a head-to-head-to-head match-up. Highly enjoyable watch.

GM Golf2 Random Golfers Challenge Me To a $10k Match

Name says it all really. I think these are Garrett’s actual mates and were solid enough value.

Fore Play Golf Can Trent Break 85 With His NEW Swing?

It’s not exactly the Break 50 series, but Trent continued on his merry way in his attempt to achieve the feat all golfer’s dream of – breaking 85 – allegedly armed with a whole new swing.

🚨 Breaking News Alert - YGT 🚨

What is YGT?

As if we needed any more acronyms utilising the same three letters, Horvat and the Bryan Bros this week announced YGT, not to be confused with YTG (YouTube Golf) or YTGT (this website). Standing for Your Golf Tour, the concept will see 16 YouTube Golfers competing across four different events, culminating with a three-day event at Wynn Las Vegas at which there will be a cool $1 million on the line. The competitors have not been named yet, but we do know that the 16 players will be split into four teams led by four captains – Horvat, Bryan x2, and another as yet unnamed.

It feels as though this tour will slot in somewhere between the Internet Invitational, and actual proper professional golf. Presumably we’ll be treated to the in-round conversation and banter that YouTube Golf is all about, but given it’s headed by Grant Horvat and the Bryan Bros as opposed to Dave Portnoy and Bobby Berger, a safe assumption would be that we’ll probably get a product with less laughs but better golf than the Internet Invitational. Information is a little limited at the minute, but expect more specific details like when it is and who will be playing in the near future.

Rumours and Innuendo

Finally, to the rumours and innuendo of the week. Which collaborators have been enjoying secret rendezvous in America’s tropical south-east? And who’s luring one of the biggest names in world sport into the world of YouTube Golf?

Bob Does Sports/Fore Play Crossover

Given they were responsible for combining to create the biggest event in YouTube Golf history and arguably the most entertaining thing to ever grace our screens, Bob Does Sports and Fore Play Golf have collaborated surprisingly little with one another. They’ve done a couple of videos together here and there over the past few years, but nothing since close to two years ago. In this week’s pod, however, the Fore Play boys confirmed that they’ve just finished filming a couple of matches together down in Florida, with one to come out on each channel, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

LeBron James

Bob Does Sports ended up joining that same podcast, and another topic of conversation was LeBron James. LeBron’s been loitering around the world of YouTube Golf for a couple of months now, ever since blaming a dwindling interest in that NBA thing he’s played in for a quarter of a century on his growing interest in YouTube Golf. Since then he’s been commenting on videos from numerous creators like a famous guy trying to get an invite to their channel, and it seems only a matter of time before he gets his wish. Bob and co fell short of explicitly saying LeBron was coming on the channel, but reading between the lines it would be a surprise if he doesn’t appear in our YouTube world once his Lakers are booted from the playoffs.

And that’s about all for the Week in YouTube Golf, a week punctuated by the announcement of Your Golf Tour. If there’s anything else you think would be a good addition to this weekly piece going forward, drop a comment below or send us a message via the details on our Contact page.
